GAP srl at ESA Fringe 2026: contributions on MT-InSAR for urban areas and vegetated environments
This week, technical papers and methodologies developed by Geophysical Applications Processing srl are being presented at the ESA Fringe 2026 workshop,
demonstrating GAP’s central role in advancing Multi-Temporal InSAR (MT-InSAR) applications.
1. Analysis of Radar Reflectors in Urban
Areas
A study on the reliability of passive and active reflectors in urban areas is being presented, based on the Bari experimental calibration site,
managed by GAP in collaboration with the National Research Council
and the Polytechnic University of Bari
.
The main technical contributions include the monitoring of sub-pixel displacements using VH polarisation and the development of compact reflector geometries for sensitive urban environments.
2. L-band MT-InSAR for vegetated
environments
The adaptation of GAP’s proprietary SPINUA algorithm for processing SAOCOM-1 data in the L-band is also presented.
The work demonstrates how L-band observations, processed via the SPINUA pipeline, maintain signal coherence in vegetated areas such as the Gargano Promontory,
enabling the monitoring of natural hazards such as karst sinkholes and the retreat of coastal cliffs.
These activities are being carried out as part of the GEORES
project (funded by the Italian Space
Agency),
in collaboration with the National Research Council
and the University of Bari
.
